Private Lessons: common questions

How long is a private lesson?

Sessions usually run about an hour. The first lesson often goes longer because Ray reads your dog before any training starts. We can run the lesson at our facility or in your home, depending on what fits the work.

How many private lessons does my dog need?

It depends on the goal. A specific issue (door-darting, leash pulling, a stubborn cue) usually clicks in 3 to 6 sessions. Behavior modification cases run longer. The free consultation is where we map out a realistic count for your dog.

Are private lessons better than a Board & Train?

They solve different problems. Private lessons are best when you want to be hands-on and the issue is specific. Board & Train is better when the case is serious or when you do not have time for daily homework between sessions. Most owners pick the one that matches their schedule and the size of the problem.

Do you do private lessons at my house?

Yes. In-home is the right fit for puppy potty training, leash reactivity on your usual routes, door-darting, and fear cases that show up at home. We cover Chicago and the surrounding suburbs within roughly 20 miles of Franklin Park for in-home work.
