Dog Roar

Protection Training in Chicago

Personal and family protection dogs. Happy and social by default, ready to protect you when needed.

A real protection dog is not a mean dog. It's a stable dog with an off switch. Your protection dog should be social by default. Friendly with kids, calm with guests, easy in public. They only switch on when there is a real threat, and they switch off when you tell them to.

This is specialized work and it isn't for every household. We screen the dog and we screen the family before starting. The training takes time. A finished protection dog is a long project, often run inside a longer Board & Train or as a multi-program build. If protection is what you want, the consultation is the first step.

What's included

  • Temperament screening for the dog before we start
  • Family lifestyle review during the consultation
  • Bite work, threat assessment, and a clear off switch
  • Public access work so the dog is calm in real environments
  • Long-term build, usually layered into Board & Train

Protection Training: common questions

What does protection training at Dog Roar look like?

Is protection training right for my dog?

It depends on what you need. The free consultation is built to figure that out. Ray Bhimani reads your dog first, then tells you honestly whether protection training fits or whether a different service is the better starting point. No upsell, no pressure.

How long does protection training take to see real results?

Most owners see meaningful change inside the first few sessions. The full program length depends on the dog, the goals, and the format you choose. Private lessons spread out over weeks. Board & Train compresses into 2, 4, or 6 weeks of full-time work. We tell you a realistic timeline at the consultation, not a sales number.
