Picking the right service: common questions

How do I pick the right service for my dog?

Start with the free consultation. Ray reads your dog first, then tells you which service fits, not which one sells the most. Most owners come in for one specific issue (a behavior problem, a puppy starting out, leash trouble) and we map the right path from there.

What is the difference between obedience and behavior modification?

Obedience teaches your dog a new skill (sit, down, recall, leash manners). Behavior modification fixes a problem your dog is already doing (jumping, pulling, reactivity, aggression). Most dogs that arrive at Dog Roar need behavior modification, then obedience layered on top.

Do I have to pick just one service?

No. Most programs run two or three services together. A typical Board & Train graduate gets obedience plus behavior modification plus boundary control all in the same 4-week stay. The consultation is where Ray builds the right combination for your dog.

Can you come to my home or do I have to drive in?

Both options exist. In-home is best for puppy potty training, leash reactivity in your real environment, door-darting, and fear cases that show up at home. The Franklin Park facility is best for distraction-proofing, group socialization, and any Board & Train. Owners outside the in-person service area can also work with Ray over FaceTime or Zoom.

Which service handles the cases other Chicago trainers refuse?

Behavior Modification and Protection Training are the two services that take cases most positive-only Chicago trainers send back. Aggression, bite history, severe leash reactivity, and resource guarding all run through Behavior Modification, often as a Board & Train so the new pattern actually sticks.
